COMMISSIONS
Every commission begins with a conversation. Melchiorri Studio Gallery offers a limited number of commissioned works each year for private clients, collectors, interior designers, galleries and institutions seeking a piece developed around a specific vision, space or material request. Rather than adapting an existing design, each commission is approached as an opportunity to create a work that is personal, considered and unique.
A COLLABORATIVE JOURNEY
The commissioning process is built upon dialogue. Ideas, references, architectural contexts and personal aspirations are explored through a series of conversations that allow the project to develop gradually and with intention. This exchange becomes the foundation upon which each work is conceived. Throughout the process, clients are guided with clarity and discretion while preserving the creative integrity that defines the Gallery’s work.
FROM CONCEPT TO FORM
Every commissioned piece begins with research, sketches and design development. As the concept evolves, proportions, volumes and material presence are carefully studied to ensure harmony between the work and its intended environment. Detailed visualisations and technical drawings allow the project to be refined before production begins, creating a clear understanding of the final piece. The objective is not simply to design an object, but to develop a work that feels naturally connected to its setting and purpose.
THE SELECTION OF STONE
Material selection represents one of the most important stages of the process.
All marble is sourced exclusively from Italy through a network of trusted quarries and suppliers. Depending on the project, clients may participate in the selection of specific stones, exploring variations in colour, veining, texture and character. Every block possesses its own identity, and these natural qualities often become an integral part of the final design.
CRAFTED THROUGH MELCHIORRI ATELIER
Once the design is approved, production is entrusted to Melchiorri Atelier, the workshop and production platform behind every work presented by the Gallery.
Working alongside specialised Italian sculptors, artisans and stone masters, Melchiorri Atelier transforms concepts into finished pieces through a process that combines technical expertise, traditional craftsmanship and a deep understanding of natural stone.
This close relationship between Gallery and Atelier ensures continuity from the initial idea through to the final execution, preserving the quality, precision and material sensitivity that define every work.

THE HUMAN HAND
Every commissioned work is shaped through handcraft processes carried out by skilled Italian artisans.
The marks of the maker, the subtle variations of manual work and the natural characteristics of the stone become part of the finished piece, ensuring that each commission retains its own individuality and authenticity.
No two works can ever be exactly replicated.
A UNIQUE WORK
A commission is not about customisation.
It is about creating something that could not exist otherwise.
Whether conceived for a private residence, a hospitality project, a gallery or a collector, each commission is developed as a singular work shaped by material, craftsmanship and a shared vision.
The result is a piece created specifically for its owner and intended to endure for generations.
